2016 DAAWC Candidate Leadership Summit


The Democratic African-American Women’s Caucus is bringing more than just candidate and campaign training to participants. In addition to offering candidates, campaign staff and current elected officials an opportunity to learn the art and science of campaign strategy from some of the most successful consultants in their respective fields, the 2016 three-day training summit will also provide an opportunity for young, aspiring Democratic Leaders to participate in leadership and professional development courses. Stay tuned for the line-up of exciting, knowledgeable trainers, and as always, we will bring dynamic keynote speakers. Our 2015 training session keynote speakers included former Ohio State Senator, and current Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders surrogate Nina Turner, Wisconsin State Senator Lena Taylor, and the incomparable attorney Willie Gary! The 2016 keynote speakers will be just as dynamic, so stay tuned for details……


The curriculum will tackle four primary themes: campaign planning, field and grassroots, fundraising and budgeting and leadership development. Sessions will address the unique challenges faced by candidates and leaders. The curriculum will include:

  • Online Tactics and Strategies
  • Tools for building a personal brand – keys to reaching personal, professional and political goals
